Father Martin Sabbatical
It is really too bad. I have known him since before he was a Jesuit priest, and he has known be since before I was whatever I am. Lately, he has been able to dance over every last one of my nerves however. It isn't that we have grown apart so much as that maybe I am just too close to the man.
In short, Father Martin's translation duties for THE LOST BOOK OF KING OG drove him (in my humble opinion) to the brink of madness. Since that point, I feel that he has indeed crossed into the land of the insane. However, the man still has the respect of his superiors. I have attempted to contact them and explain his situation from my perspective. Obviously, because I am not a man of the cloth, so my complaints don't get very far. In fact, I am getting off point.
The point is this: Father Martin has been asked by his superiors to go on "mandatory sabbatical." Father Martin informed me by email that part of this enforced sabbatical that he is on has to do with research and translation of another recently uncovered Vatican document.
I asked him a barrage of questions, all of which he dodged and denied. However, what I am able to piece together is the following:
* Father Martin's curiosity is piqued. He made it very clear to me that this document was something that he hadn't ever expected, or heard of.
* The document is antediluvian in nature. I zeroed in on this fact after gauging the timbre of his response while asking him the same questions regarding its history in many different ways.
* Where Father Martin is going, he will have no access to the Internet, and he will be incommunicado. In fact, he has asked me to thank all of you who have emailed their encouragement and prayers to him. From this point, I will be handling all communication regarding THE LOST BOOK OF KING OG. Father Martin is officially "off the map."
*Father Martin is going to be incommunicado for what looks to be 2-3 years.
I will tell you more as it materializes.
